Tips

Tamil and Sinhala are the two official languages of Sri Lanka. English is spoken widely.
The currency of Sri Lanka is the Sri Lankan Rupee. ATM’s are common and credit cards are widely accepted.
Tipping around 10% is generally expected in Sri Lanka.
Don’t leave Sri Lanka without an elephant statue, a saris and a wooden devil mask.
Try one of the many small cafes, confusingly called 'Hotels', for a cheap lunch. Drink bottled water only.
Sri Lanka is hot! Stick to natural fibres and loose layers. Cover your shoulders when visiting religious sites.
Never take a photo with your back to a statue of Buddha. It’s considered very disrespectful.
Sri Lankan police will arrest and may deport people sporting tattoos of Buddha.

"Everything about this trip was perfect. There was a great combination of sights and activities like walking, cycling, dancing, cooking, riding public and private trasnport and visiting coconut plantation. The itinerary includes places that were stunning and we got to see Sri Lanka at its finest and it also gave us flexibility to decide what we wanted to join at certain parts of the tour. Our tour guide (Indika) was also awesome and took good care of us until the end of the tour. All in all it was trip of a lifetime with great location, stunning views, fun activities and an amazing guide. However, I woud have prefered if the guide took us to places with authentic food considering it's called Spices of Ceylon and there was not enough option given apart from hotel food."
