  • Shorts and slippers are considered inappropriate attire when you visit churches or when you dine outside.
  • Most shops in Manila open for six days a week between 10 am – 6 pm. However, areas outside Manila don’t usually follow a fixed schedule for business hours.
  • The tropical season from late May to December may sometimes be accompanied by floods and landslides. However, your tour operator will find the best season for you to plan your travel.
  • Take necessary precautions while you’re in the coastal regions as there may be undercurrents and a lack of adequate lifeguard services.
  • Check before you get a black henna tattoo as it may cause a severe reaction if you have sensitive skin.
  • Avoid eating reef fish as it causes Ciguatera poisoning. Do try authentic and local dishes such as dinaguan and balut.
  • Road names change once in about three months in some areas so keep track or ask your tour guide if you’re confused.
  • Don’t be surprised to find completely unique sports such as spider fights and midget boxing.
